How Do I Start the Denture-Lock Process?
The first step is to come in to see us at Houston Smile Docs for an evaluation. We can talk about your specific wants and needs. We can talk about what you have budgeted for your dental care. Then we can tailor a treatment plan that fits all of those aspects together into a personalized plan. When you call us, you will likely talk to Cindy or Kathy, and they will arrange an appointment for you with one of the doctors. If there is someone you would like to have come with you, they are welcome to come and be part of the decision making process. We want you to feel comfortable about how you decide to move forward. How Long Will It Take for Me to Get My Denture-Lock™ Denture?
Every case varies some, so when we put together your personalized plan of action, we can tell you approximately how long it will take.
Who is Eligible for Dental Implants?
The only way to know for sure is to be examined at our office. The one most important determining factor is whether or not there is enough bone to place implants. The bone has to be tall enough and wide enough to support dental implants. Even where there isn´t a lot of bone, even if we can place two dental implants, it will make your denture much more secure than a conventional denture.
What about "Mini-Implants"?
There is a lot of talk about mini-implants, but the truth is that currently they should ONLY be used as a temporary substitute for larger, conventional implants. The average mini–implant is designed to function no longer than 6 to 18 months. They are a stopgap measure only. In addition, the attachments that secure a mini-implant to a denture are not nearly as secure as those used in our Denture Lock™ process. So if you want something really secure that will usually last a lifetime, you want a conventionally sized implants like the ones we place at Houston Smile Docs.
